A Guide on GApps Installation on Android 13

A Guide on GApps Installation on Android 13

With the release of Android 13, Google seems to have been cutting off their pre-installed apps when you get a new phone. Typically, Google Apps (GApps) would be already installed and ready to be used on a brand new phone however, Google has changed its policy for OEM and certain apps such as the Google Play Games, Google Play Books, Google+, Google Newsstand, and Google Play Store are no longer mandatory for a phone to carry.

This doesn’t mean that these applications are being wiped out. They will still be available on the Google Play Store should you wish to have them on your phone. Here’s a guide on how to do it:

STEP 1: Get the Android SDK Platform Tools on your Personal Computer.

Don’t worry; this is completely safe and virus-free! This kit is by Google, itself, which allows the users to create android applications with the help of Android Studio. This platform is up to date as well, every time Google releases an update for its applications, the version is simultaneously released on the server.

Aside from these, Android SDK also includes an emulator and tools that can be used to code programs from developing, debugging, and packaging. This supports languages such as Java, Kotlin, and C++. This software can be used with Windows, macOS, and Linux.

STEP 2: Extract the Applications you will need or the pre-saved zip file.

Applications you can get include (but are not limited to), Google Play, Google Chrome, Google Drive, Gmail, Gmail Go, Google Keep, Google Maps, Google Earth, Google Docs, Google Lens, Google Sky Maps, Google Slides, Google Sheets, Google Ads, Google Forms, Google Meet, GBoard, GBoard Go, Google Go, Files by Google, Google Assistant, Google Admin, Google Calendar, Google Camera, Google Chat, Google Classroom, Google Fit, Google Fiber, Google Fi, Google One, Google Pay, Google Play Games, Google Play Services, Google Street View, Google Tasks, and many more!

STEP 3: Using a USB wire, connect your phone to your PC.

STEP 4: Enable MTP under “mount” from TeamWin Recovery Project (TWRP).

This software provides a touchscreen interface for the user and is usually used for rooting Android devices. TWRP will be used for you to be able to install third-party firmware and back up your current system.

STEP 5: Save the GApps.zip file on your phone.

STEP 6: Navigate to the TWRP Install area.

STEP 7: To flash the GApps ZIP file, select it and slide to the right.

Just like that, your Google Applications are ready to be used! Seeing the instruction in words could be overwhelming for non-tech-savvy people out there but Android SDK is very user-friendly and easy to use!

Although this move by Google provides more internal storage to phones, it is understandable that Google Applications are already accustomed to us. Thanks to Android SDK (and this guide), users still have the option to get these helpful apps that are used for school, work, and even leisure!
